ComtronICS Inc., aka Comtronics Industrial Communication Systems, is a 32 year veteran of the wireless business. We have developed a solid reputation both locally and nationally, in several vertical markets, as the go-to knowledgeable and reliable supplier of headsets, radios and wireless technology.
ComtronICS provides wireless equipment and systems, specializing in wireless voice communication for industrial and public service use such as nuclear, public safety, energy and paper products manufacturing. Our customer base includes many Fortune 500 companies.
ComtronICS is an Authorized Motorola 2-Way Radio dealer since 1993, offering the most experienced source for Motorola Radio Communication products and services in the central Kentucky area. We achieved the coveted Motostar excellence rating in 2006 and 2008; and became a Platinum Partner in 2011.
In September 2012 we opened our second location, in Northern Kentucky, to serve the Cincinnati Metropolitan Area. Conveniently located off I-75 (Burlington exit 181), our new location offers onsite installation as well as radio repair and programming to provide our customers a complete turnkey service experience.
Profiles
David Fried, President
David grew up in Flemingburg KY where his family owned a department store since the early 1900's. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Journalism & Advertising. With retail in his blood, in 1980, he founded ComtronICS. David is an avid skier and traveler, with a great fondness for The Great Lebowski, from which comes his favorite quote: "Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes, well, he eats you."
Deborah Prechtl, Marketing & Graphics Manager
A graduate of the University of Cincinnati's DAAP, Deby has 30 years experience in graphic design and product engineering. She has been involved with ComtronICS in a variety of capacities since its inception. Her interests include historical architectural research, jewelry design, creative writing, home renovation and gardening.
Wendy Ernst, Office Manager
Originally from Whitestown IN, Wendy has a sparkling outgoing personality. She has been with the company since 2004. Her interests include ghost hunting and amateur photography. Wendy believes you should be good to those who are good to you, whether family, friends or at work.
Melissa Kirk, Customer Service Manager
Melissa grew up in Memphis TN, where she studied Criminal Justice Telecommunications. Her interests include paranormal investigation and traveling with family. Favorite quote: "Success is the abiity to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm."--Sir Winston Churchill.
Melinda Lyons, Shipping & Receiving
Melinda is from Lexington KY and has a degree in Business. Her interests include gardening and scrapbooking. A friendly person, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
Charles Hogsett, Accounting Assistant
Charles is from Lexington KY, and has degrees in both Finance and Accounting from the University of Kentucky. He is interested in real estate, cars and motorcycles. The best way to go through life?--"be nice to everyone".
Gerald Caton, Technician
Gerald has been with our company for many years as the go-to guy for all kinds of technical issues. His hobbies include collecting radios, antique bottles and model trains. His philosophy of life? "I just take things one day at a time."
Tim Gilliam
Tim is from Harlan County, Kentucky, where his family originally settled in the 1800's. Because his Dad was in the Marines for 30 years, Tim has traveled throughout the world. Professionally, he specializes in designing new products and systems. His interests include fishing, traveling and beaches. A devoted family man with grandchildren, he is involved with the Masons, Scottish Rite and the Shriners. Tim's philosophy? "No one has ever become poor by giving".
Tom Thompson
After working for the state of Michigan on their statewide P25 system for 15 years, Tom now welcomes the opportunity to return to his hometown of Burlington KY. Experienced in project management and sales, Tom is a certified wireless technician. In his spare time, he expresses his lifelong love of music by playing several instruments, including bagpipes and mandolin. Tom also shares by regularly volunteering in community projects, where his favorite saying is "stay positive!"
